From top to bottom, your kit should have the essential items listed below. I will provide you with a waterproof duffle bag so you do not have to invest in one.
HEAD PROTECTION:
- sun hat
- wooly hat or balaclava
- sun glasses (good enough to shade against bright snow)
- head torch (with extra batteries)
- scarf
BODY PROTECTION:
- a thermal base layer (top & bottom)
- wicky shirts (3-4)
- a light fleece
- a heavy fleece
- a down jacket (in place of the heavy fleece)
- a waterproof (top & bottom)
- trekking pants (zip-offs are perfect)
- gloves
- trekking poles
- sleeping bag (I use a down sleeping bag rated comfortable at -18°C)
- sleeping Mat
FOOT PROTECTION:
- trekking boots (Grade B/C)
- thick thermal socks and a couple of regular sports ones
- gaiters
OTHER ESSENTIALS:
- water bottles (2 bottles of 1-liter each)
- platypus or camelbacks systems (very convenient but not a must if you prefer bottle)
- water purification tablets
- personal first-aid kit
- sunscreen
- personal wash kit
- tennis shoes or sandals (for around the camp)
- earplugs
- a day bag (to carry your personals and items you may need during the day)
- a trowel
- bacterial handwash or anti-bacterial
- blister pack
